Lakeside Amusement Park

Since 1908 an amusement park has occupied the shores of Lake Rhoda near Denver, Colorado. Originally named White City for its display of thousands of lights, Lakeside Amusement Park is one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States and the oldest park still operating in its original location in the state of Colorado. 

Apparently the park changed hands in the 1930s and underwent major renovations which introduced neon and Art Deco style to the park. Many of the rides that still remain in the park appear to be from the 1940s-60s and have the most fantastic mid-century signs! 

We were fortunate enough to visit Lakeside at night and every inch of neon was blazing, it was phenomenal! 

The cyclone is a roller coaster and is by far the most popular ride here. According to wikipedia the cyclone coaster was opened in 1940, check out that great marquee!

I loved this lamp!! And check out the speed boat sign off in the distance.

The wild chipmunk sign is my favorite! And we actually went on the scrambler, it was so fun!

The staride was not running but boy did it look ancient, I had to take a picture of it!

We rode on the matterhorn which was a little too intense for my beau, but incredibly fun. 

We also went on the ferris wheel, which freaked me out- who knew I was afraid of heights!

 Apparently we are becoming scaredy-cats in our advanced age, haha!

I visited Lakeside with my boyfriend, his cousin and second cousins, who are ten and twelve, and a good time was had by all of us! 

The park was filled with young and old alike; it's wonderful that such a great old place is still being enjoyed and appreciated!
