Just up the coast a bit from where I live, lodged in a sandbar, are the remnants of a ship belonging to the infamous pirate Blackbeard.
Blackbeard's ship- the Queen Anne's Revenge, ran aground in 1718 and was discovered by excavators in the 1990s and an effort to recover artifacts from the ship is underway.

I don't know about you but I find it absolutely incredible that almost 300 years after her sinking, artifacts and remains from a ship and her pirate crew are being recovered from their watery grave. There is something so incredibly eerie and fascinating about this wreck lurking in the depths, I just had to share this with you.
